About IPC Training Days

The IPC Training Days programme provides education for trainees and other healthcare professionals working in the field of medical microbiology, medical virology, infectious diseases, and other areas of infection control.

The structured rolling programme comprises a series of nine independent, one-day training sessions.

Learning Outcomes

After attending this session covering 'IPC in non-acute settings' delegates will be able to:

  • Discuss IPC outpatient settings eg. GUM Clinics and Primary Care

  • Describe the challenges of managing an outbreak in a community setting

  • Explain the challenges of surveillance and implementing interventions across health and social care

  • Describe the delivery of IPC in non-healthcare community settings eg. prisons, places of detention and body modification studios.

 

HIS members who attend 7 (distinct) of the 9 IPC Training Days in the rolling programme and complete the HIS/UKHSA Foundation Course in Infection Prevention and Control are eligible to apply for the Foundation Certificate in IPC.
