NHSE IPC Education Framework level: This course aligns to Foundation and Enhanced levels
The IPC Training Days programme provides education for trainees and other healthcare professionals working in the field of medical microbiology, medical virology and infectious diseases, and other areas of infection control.
The refreshed programme covers high-quality core content that is aligned and relevant to the JRCPTB and RCPath curricula and meets current educational needs of trainees and a wider community of multi-disciplinary professionals working in the field of IPC.
The rolling programme comprises a series of nine, independent one-day training sessions, which take place online four times per year, in February, July, September and November.
You can view example programmes for each topic below:
HIS members who attend 7 (distinct) of the 9 Trainee Education Days in the rolling programme and complete the HIS/UKHSA Foundation Course in Infection Prevention and Control are eligible to apply for the Foundation Certificate in IPC.
HIS (like many other not-for-profit membership organisations) is facing challenging economic conditions and experiencing significant changes to our established revenue streams. Amendments to the events funding model are required to ensure the financial sustainability of HIS’s events programme and to ensure we can continue to deliver high quality education and other services to our members and the wider community of healthcare professionals.
The revised and refreshed programme of IPC Training Days will cover high-quality core content aligned and relevant to the JRCPTB and RCPath curricula. The course will meet current educational needs of trainees and multi-disciplinary professionals working in the field of IPC.
The IPC Training Days will continue to be delivered fully online, via Zoom.
The completion of both free-to-attend ‘Trainee Education Days’ and revised programme of ‘HIS IPC Training Days’ will all count towards you achieving the Foundation Certificate in IPC.
The charges are being introduced in a phased approach that come into full effect in 2025. HIS Trainee and Associate Trainee members can register for the upcoming IPC Training Days taking place in September and November free of charge, if registering before 10 September 2024. For registrations after this date, a charge of £25 for HIS Trainee members and Associate Trainee members will apply.
Payments must be made by credit/debit card or Paypal, when registering online. HIS does not currently offer an invoicing option for IPC Training Days, but you can access a copy of your receipt by logging in to your HIS web portal www.his.org.uk/account/login to support claims for reimbursement from your employer or place of study.
Currently, registration is only available for individual sessions, although the option to book for multiple sessions may become available in the future.
To enquire about group discounts for multiple training sessions or for a group of 5 or more participants, please email admin@his.org.uk

Refunds will not be provided for cancellations less than 14 days prior to the event or for delegates who do not join on the day.
