The HIS Treasurer, David Harvey, will complete his term of office during 2025, and HIS Council is now seeking applications from members with an interest in financial management.  The Treasurer oversees the financial affairs of the Society, and responsibilities include reporting the financial health of the organisation to Council. The Treasurer works in partnership with other trustees, and the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive to ensure that effective financial measures, controls and procedures appropriate to the Society are managed. In the first instance, the incoming Treasurer will act as ‘Treasurer-elect’ following the 2024 AGM, shadowing the current Treasurer and undertaking any necessary financial instruction. They will be a non-Trustee member of HIS Council during this period and will take up the definitive Treasurer role (and become a Trustee) at the 2025 AGM. 

Concerned about the time commitment?  HIS has an experienced and committed staff team who work to ensure that Council members focus on the strategic activities of the Society. Council members typically attend no more than four meetings a year and joining virtually is an option.

The Treasurer is elected by Council for a three year term of office, and may be re-elected for a further three year term.
