About IPC Training Days

The IPC Training Days programme provides education for trainees and other healthcare professionals working in the field of medical microbiology, medical virology, infectious diseases, and other areas of infection control.

The structured rolling programme comprises a series of nine independent, one-day training sessions.

Learning Outcomes

After attending this session covering 'IPC in specialised settings' delegates will be able to:

• Describe the role of Infection prevention and control in a bone and joint infection unit

• Discuss the role of Infection prevention and control in a renal dialysis unit

• Describe the role Infection prevention and control in a cystic fibrosis unit

• Explain the role of Infection prevention and control in a high consequence infectious disease unit

• Understand the challenges in management and infection prevention in neurosurgery

• Discuss the role of Infection prevention and control in a burns unit

• Explain the role of Infection prevention and control in combatting fungal infections in the immunocompromised

HIS members who attend 7 (distinct) of the 9 IPC Training Days in the rolling programme and complete the HIS/UKHSA Foundation Course in Infection Prevention and Control are eligible to apply for the Foundation Certificate in IPC.
