The presentation is an overview on the role of infection in cystic fibrosis and the acquisition and transmission of infection. I will present the current evidence and guidelines available for infection prevention measure in Cystic Fibrosis units. Finally, what measures we have in place at Royal Papworth Hospital. The presentation will highlight that the current evidence of infection control in Cystric Fibrosis is not robust but in abundance. The practices vary significantly in different centres but as acquisition of certain organisms can be devastating for the patient the highest levels of infection control measures is recommended.
