What happens when a Trust fails to deliver safe water? Why do so many Trusts find themselves in trouble with water quality, often with large cost implications. This talk will explore the reasons behind poor water quality within healthcare environments and will examine the role of Water Safety Groups and Water Safety Plans and why they are needed as a vital part of an effective water management strategy. The talk will look at water testing and the impact of water microbiology on patient safety will also be discussed, with a focus on what you are testing for, why you are testing for it, and whether there is a need to broaden the scope of testing given the capabilities of newer detection technologies. Finally, the correlation between water and patient safety will be explored. Why is this so important to consider in a healthcare environment?
