The Council of the Healthcare Infection Society (HIS) announced Dr James Price as a recipient of the HIS Early Career Award 2023 in recognition of his outstanding innovative contributions to the prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections as an early career clinician.
Dr Manjula Meda, Chair of the HIS Higher Awards Committee, said:
“The HIS Higher Awards Committee were particularly impressed by Dr Price’s commitment to implementing infection prevention control in clinical practice, education and training and public engagement. It was stated that becoming a DIPC within two years of beginning a consultant position is an exceptional accomplishment to have achieved in a short period of time.”
Dr Price is a Senior Lecturer in Global Health and Infection at Brighton and Sussex Medical School and is an Honorary Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology and an Infection Control Doctor at the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
On winning the award, Dr Price said:
“I am thrilled and honoured to have been selected as the recipient of the HIS Early Career Award. This recognition comes as a delightful surprise, and I would like to express my thanks to the remarkable team of individuals who have supported and inspired me throughout my career. I am incredibly fortunate to work with such exceptional talents, and this award is a testament to our collective achievements.”
