Contaminated healthcare water systems present important risks to patients in hospitals, especially for patients who are immunocompromised. Based on a recent special section of the Journal of Hospital Infection on healthcare water systems and wastewater disposal, this IPC Journal Club in partnership with the Healthcare Infection Society will be chaired by Dr Shanom Ali who guest edited the special edition, and will discuss two papers from this special section. The first, led by Dr Phil Norville, will discuss whether it’s time for us to move to ‘water-free’ patient care. The second, led by Dr Jon Otter, will discuss the potential role of continuous monitoring of water temperature and other metrics in water safety. Dr Shanom Ali will be facilitating Q&A from the audience. Please try to read the papers before the Journal Club, and come with your questions! We hope that you are able to join us.
