Hilary Humphreys is emeritus Professor of Clinical Microbiology at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He has a longstanding research interest in hospital infections, including in neurosurgery, and he has led national clinical guideline groups in Ireland and in the UK. He was President of the Healthcare Infection Society, 2017-2022 and is an Executive Committee member of the ESCMID Study Group on Nosocomial Infections.
