Dr Christine Peters first became interested in dynamics of pathogen transmission during a project at medical school looking at survival of gram negatives in CF sputum on hands. After completing MBCHB and BSC in Parasitology and Entomology in Edinburgh University she went on to complete specialist training in Medical Microbiology and Virology in Glasgow with a DTMH and FRCPATH undertaken en route. She has practiced as a Consultant Clinical Microbiologist in Oman, Crosshouse and Glasgow. She has had an interest in health care ventilation throughout her career and is part of a group of medical staff called FreshAirNHS which has raised the need for improved hospital ventilation to reduce COVID-19 transmission.
