Laura Shallcross

Laura Shallcross is Professor of Public health and Director of the UCL Institute of Health Informatics. She led the national VIVALDI (COVID-19 in care homes) study which informed the public health response to COVID-19 in care homes, and was a member of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) Social Care working group. Laura leads a collaborative, inter-disciplinary programme of research which is focused on reducing the impact of infections, outbreaks and antimicrobial resistance in care homes for older adults and is delivered in partnership with residents, their relatives, care home staff, care providers and policymakers. She is strongly committed to translating research findings into policies and practices that benefit people who live and work in care homes (and their families) and works closely with national policymakers.
