Jody Winter

Dr Winter leads the Microbiology teaching team at Nottingham Trent University and has research interests in antimicrobial resistance, antimicrobial stewardship, Helicobacter pylori and bacterial pathogenesis. After completing a PhD in parasite immunology and vaccine design at the University of Nottingham in 2004, she conducted postdoctoral research projects focused on DNA replication and repair in E. coli and virulence/immune modulation in H. pylori. She joined Nottingham Trent University as a Senior Lecturer in 2014. Alongside her microbiological research, Dr Winter specialises in educational developments including e-learning, active collaborative learning and game-based learning. Since 2019 she has been part of a Commonwealth Partnerships for Antimicrobial Stewardship (CwPAMS) project between Nottingham Trent University, Makerere University, Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital promoting antimicrobial stewardship among healthcare workers in central Uganda.
