Ginny Moore

Ginny is part of the Biosafety, Air and Water Microbiology Group based at UKHSA Porton Down and is Scientific Lead for Infection and the Built Environment. She holds a PhD in Applied Microbiology and has spent over twenty years investigating the survival of microorganisms on surfaces, in water and in the air. Projects investigating bacterial survival and colonisation within hospital taps, showers, sinks and drains have involved the design, development and use of large-scale, model water distribution systems. This research programme has recently been expanded to include a full-scale, fully-functional model hospital ward which allows transmission dynamics of antimicrobial resistant bacteria and other emerging pathogens to be investigated and a range of infection prevention strategies to be evaluated.
