Major issues with new hospital build projects need to be seen against a background of widespread problems within the construction industry. This was highlighted by two reports issued within a month of each other in 2018. The Cole report in response to walls collapsing in 5 new schools in Scotland and the report from England led by dame Judith Hackitt. This followed Grenfell but looked widely at the construction industry. This the first in a pair of talks will attempt to tease out why the system is failing.
