Ventilation – what can go wrong?

Despite a library shelf burgeoning with many iterations of guidance on hospital ventilation, ventilation goes wrong in the real world.

This talk will be a whistle stop tour of real events at every step along the pathway of clean air delivery to extract and discharge.

We will encounter problems with source, pathway of delivery, mixing, extract and direction of air movement . In doing so we will highlight the potentials for increased risks to patients and staff and how print on pages means little if the real world of shafts and baffles do not comply to the physics of air. Old and new buildings alike are susceptible to ventilation gone wrong.
