Safety and environmental requirements for endoscope decontamination facilities

The presentation discusses the built environment where endoscope decontamination processes are carried out, assessing how critical they are to the effectiveness of the outcome. Looking at how all activities should take place in segregated dirty and clean areas for the procedures undertaken within. The potential for adventitious contamination within the environmental conditions under which medical devices are prepared and systems to control.
John and Central Sterilizing Club colleagues formed a working party to produce guidance on the principles for air quality safety considerations in existing facilities, refurbishments and new builds for endoscope decontamination. The guidance considers both risks to staff and subsequently patient.
