Hilary Humphreys is Emeritus Professor of Clinical Microbiology at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He has conducted and lectured on healthcare-associated infection for over 30 years. He has led and contributed to the development of clinical guidelines in the UK and Ireland and he is currently President of the Healthcare Infection Society.
