| Lilian Chiwera is an independent Surgical Site Infection Surveillance Consultant in the UK. She has experience setting up and coordinating a very successful SSI surveillance service at Guys & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) from 2009 – 2022. She is very passionate about improving patient safety and experience. Lilian is a member of Hospital Infection Society (HIS) Guidelines Development Committee; was a former member of the Infection Prevention Society (IPS) Scientific Programme Committee (SPC), Former IPS Education & Professional Development Committee member and former IPS Deputy Treasurer. Lilian was also a member of the National Institute of Care Excellence (NICE) SSI quality standard Topic Expert Group (TEG) in 2013. She has presented SSIS work at various local & international conferences including at previous Infection Prevention Society (IPS) conferences, Surgical Infection Society Europe (SISE) and on behalf of NICE. |
