Martin Jones

Martin has been working in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) for 18 years within a variety of acute and community settings. He has published in a number of articles relating to IPC and decontamination and has developed the Infection prevention society - IPS/DOH audit tools for community settings and more recently lead on the development of the DOH/IPS dental audit tool to monitor compliance against IPC dental standards set in HTM 0105.
Martin has been very active within the Infection prevention society, having been the community co-ordinator for many years and has recently collaborated with HIS as co-author for the publication of guidance for decontamination of breast pump collection kits and related items at home and hospitals. He received formal recognition at IPS conference Manchester 2017, when he received the national Brendan Moore award for his work with the society.
Martin is interested in developing audit and surveillance systems in community settings to determine risk factors and potential reduction strategies. This has included E-coli and MSSA, urinary catheters and C difficile. Working in Sefton which has the second highest numbers of care homes in UK.
